As the control manager, this modification will enable you to segregate the existing "add new control" permission, by giving users the option to either add a new control or select one from the existing controls library.

Note: This feature will only be available for organisations with a flex hierarchy.

How do you configure this?

You can permit users to select risk controls from the existing control library using the newly introduced "select from control library" permission option in "Role management > Risk permission hierarchy".

How does this work?

Previously, when the add control permission was granted to a user, both the "add new control" and "select from control library" options were automatically enabled. However, there was no way to segregate these options and grant only one, forcing users to choose between adding a new control or selecting from the control library.

However, from now onwards, users who only have permission to add risk controls are not allowed to select controls from the library unless they have been granted the newly introduced "select from control library" permission. By default, both options will be enabled, but you can choose to restrict the permission if needed. This change enables you to restrict the functionality of adding new risk controls, allowing users to select controls only from the library.
