1. Introduction to Cache Management

Web browsers save pictures, styles, and other elements of applications to make them load faster during future visits. This stored data is called 'cache'. However, if If an application updates and your browser loads data from its cache instead of the updated version, you might see an outdated or improperly functioning website.

Although developers usually inform browsers of updates, sometimes browsers might still show outdated content due to various reasons like how old the browser is, or how it's set up. When this happens, clearing your browser's cache can help.

2. Navigating the Browser Cache

2.1 What is Browser Cache?

Your browser acts as a custodian, meticulously storing components of visited websites to enhance future visits. The browser cache serves as a temporary storage location on your device, optimizing page load speed, conserving bandwidth, and ensuring consistency and stability across web experiences.

2.2 How Does Browser Cache Work?

The browser cache operates by locally storing specific files and resources on your device. Upon revisiting a webpage, the browser checks its cache for necessary resources. If found, these resources are retrieved from the cache, significantly reducing load times.

3. Cache Management in Camms Applications

3.1 Understanding Camms Application Cache

The cache found in Camms applications plays a crucial role in optimizing performance and user experience. However, issues may arise when a previous token is still being passed to the next user, leading to unexpected behavior and errors. To prevent such occurrences, a hard cache reload may be necessary.

  • If the desired product navigation does not work due to cache-related issues, users can try alternative avenues to access the required application area. For example:

    • If a user encounters difficulties navigating to an Incident record from the Risk dashboard pop-up, they may still be able to access the record directly from the Incident Register.

    • Similarly, if navigating to a Risk record from Quick Update fails, users can access the record directly from the Risk Register.

  • In cases where an email link fails to navigate to the desired record after authentication, users can still access it from the registers.

  • Users may encounter unauthorised messages while progressing through the product, often due to expired tokens. Such issues can typically be resolved by logging into the system and retrying, screenshots below illustrate examples of these unauthorised messages.

...

  • If a user experiences difficulty accessing the product due to session timeout, logging back into the system and retrying may be necessary.

  • In the event of authentication failure users may need to retry by clearing the browser cache.

4. Clearing Browser Cache: Benefits and Methods

Clearing your browser cache periodically offers several benefits that contribute to a better browsing experience.

  • Improved Browsing Speed: Removing outdated files speeds up page loading.

  • Enhanced Privacy and Security: Clears stored data, reducing the risk of breaches.

  • Accurate Website Rendering: Ensures up-to-date content and proper display.

  • Troubleshooting: Solves issues like missing images or broken layouts.

  • Fresh Content Access: Ensures you see the latest website updates promptly.

Note: Clearing cache might log you out of websites and erase website data, such as login credentials. Ensure you have backed up vital data before clearing the cache.
