Data Model/Relationships

1. Overview |
The Data Model/Relationships page allows you to manage relationships for tables, views, and stored procedures. This page is located in Settings and is usually only accessible to Administrators.
2. List relationships |
STEP 1: Go to Settings > Data Setup > Data Model in the left menu.
STEP 2: Select Relationships in the middle panel.
STEP 3: Relationships for all visible data sources will be displayed.
STEP 4: By default, only the first page with 10 items is displayed. To see more, use the next page icon or select a larger number in the Items per page box.
3. Search for relationships |
STEP 1: Use the Search box at the top to find specific relationships.
STEP 2: Select a specific element to search for in the dropdown on the left of the search box. The default selection is All.
STEP 3: Type a partial name and click the search icon.
STEP 4: Only the matching relationships will be displayed.
4. Add relationship |
STEP 1: Click the Add Relationship button at the top. A new empty row will appear at the first line.
STEP 2: Select the elements of the relationship from the dropdown boxes. Follow this order for convenience:
Database Name – your own database
Data Object
Join Field
STEP 3 (Optional): Input the PositionID to define the priority of the relationship when querying data.
STEP 4: Continue adding more relationships if needed.
STEP 5: Click Save at the top.
Note:
Relationships that already exist or have errors will be highlighted and not saved.
Only single-column relationships are supported in the Data Model. Multiple-column relationships are supported in Report Designer.
5. Copy relationship |
STEP 1: Click the copy icon of a relationship to duplicate its details to a new line beneath.
STEP 2: Edit the new line to create a new relationship.
STEP 3: Repeat for additional relationships.
STEP 4: Click Save at the top.
6. Edit relationship |
STEP 1: Edit any relationship directly on the page.
STEP 2: Click Save at the top to apply changes.
7. Delete relationship |
STEP 1: You can only delete relationships newly created in the Data Model. Relationships created from the physical database cannot be deleted; the delete icon will be disabled.
STEP 2: Click the delete icon (x) for the relationship you want to remove.
STEP 3: Click OK in the confirmation pop-up.
STEP 4: The relationship will be deleted.
