Strategy Configuration – KPI Performance Threshold

Strategy Configuration – KPI Performance Threshold

This area allows you to define additional performance thresholds for KPIs and KRIs beyond the standard three-tier system (On Track, Monitor, Off Track). You can configure up to five customised thresholds aligned to organisational needs.

Note: Performance thresholds for Scorecards will be based on the performance thresholds configured within this area.

  • STEP 1: Contact Camms Support to enable the internal setting for multiple performance statuses.

Once enabled, a new section titled KPI Performance Threshold will appear under Administration > Configuration.

  • STEP 2: Set up access permissions for the KPI Performance Threshold page.

    • Clients on a static database with Administrator permissions will have direct access to this page.

    • Clients using a flexible hierarchy must assign access via the Role Management area by granting either View or Edit permissions, as required.

  • STEP 3: By default, three thresholds titled On Track, Monitor, and Off Track will be displayed with their respective colours.

Click the Add New button to define more thresholds. Titles, colours, images, and display order can be configured. A maximum of five performance thresholds can be defined.

A visual representation will be shown for each calculation method based on the configured thresholds.

  • STEP 4: Click Save once the configuration is complete.

The system will process KPI and Scorecard data for five financial years, including the current year.

You can choose to process data immediately or after office hours. Processing after hours is recommended to reduce system performance impact.

Note: The performance threshold configuration page will be disabled while data is being processed. Changes made within KPI components during this time may not be saved or could disrupt the process.

Once you save the performance threshold configurations, these settings will also apply to other areas of the system.

1.1 Strategy Map Configuration

When configured to display the overall performance of a hierarchy node by average, the number of variance fields will vary based on the number of configured thresholds.

When configured to display by count, a dropdown labelled Overall Status Tie Resolution will be available. This allows administrators to select the preferred performance threshold to display in the case of a tie. By default, the higher performance threshold will be shown.

1.2 KPI Target/Actual Tab

KPIs using the Goal Post calculation method will support all configured performance thresholds.

The number of variance fields will vary depending on the number of thresholds configured.

1.5 Email Notifications

KPI performance-based email triggers will reflect the configured thresholds, allowing emails to be triggered for each performance level.

1.6 Display Areas

KPI and Scorecard performance will be shown based on the configuration. The respective colour and title will be displayed across areas such as EIS and Strategy Map.

1.7 Performance Calculation

Performance is calculated in two steps.

  • STEP 1: Performance Value Calculation

Calculation Method

Logic

Calculation Method

Logic

More is Better

If Target = 0 and Actual ≥ 0 then 100, else 0. Otherwise Actual divided by Target.

Less is Better

If Target = 0 and Actual ≤ 0 then 100, else 0. If Target > 0 then 1 minus (Actual divided by Target) plus 1. Otherwise Actual divided by Target.

Goal Post

If Actual is between LB1 and UB1 then 100. If Actual is less than LB1 then (Actual divided by Target) × 100. If Actual is more than UB1 then (Target minus (Actual minus Target)) divided by Target × 100.

LB1 = Target minus ((Target × Variance) ÷ 100)
UB1 = Target plus ((Target × Variance) ÷ 100)

  • STEP 2: Assigning Performance Threshold

Performance thresholds will be assigned based on the calculated performance value and the number of thresholds configured. Refer to the logic and matrix in the release note for full details.
